From the Superintendent

Leadership matters; It matters in business, in government, in churches, in homes and in our schools.  No great human accomplishment ever happened without great leadership, and transforming public education is no exception.

Across the education field, there is unusual consensus that strong teacher leadership is central to improving our schools.  Unfortunately, clear expectations for what teacher leaders should do, and strategies to prepare them to do it well, are rare.

When leaders become too comfortable with a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to leadership, they are at risk of becoming irrelevant because they are unable or unwilling to correct their style, approach, and attitude to the environment of change they must lead through. We have no intentions of leaving any teacher in our District in a state of mediocrity.

Forbes quote of the day, comes from Orlando A. Battista. “Initiative is to success what a lighted match is to a candle.”  It is our intentions as a district to offer the lighted match, to the candle of your leadership as teachers. We wish to bring you to your full potential as a leader and a teacher.

We must all continue to grow, stretch our minds and capabilities, always reaching for and improving on the best we can give! Our students must have top-shelf leadership. In order to reach great heights as educators of the next generation of leaders, we have a responsibility to ourselves and to our fellow educators to refuse to be an ordinary leader.  We have to strive for excellence.
