STUDENT CONDUCT AT HOME FOOTBALL GAMES
The Newton Independent School District is requesting the help of parents and guardians to ensure the safety of all students at home football games.  Elementary and Middle School students must have a parent or adult (someone who is not a student) with them to be able to enter the stadium gates.  Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to supervise their students throughout the football game.  If an administrator returns a student, due to behavior, to a parent or adult, the student is expected to remain with the adult for the remainder of the game.  If the student is disciplined again, the parent or adult and the student may be required to leave the stadium.  We want all of those who attend the games to enjoy viewing the football game but we must maintain order and safety for everyone.  We appreciate your cooperation and support.

If you have concerns, ideas, or suggestions, please contact the Assistant Superintendent, Mrs. Sherrie Leach, at (409) 379-3068 or by e-mailing sherrie.leach@newtonisd.net.

From the Superintendent

The Newton Independent School District encourages parents and other citizens to visit our schools and believes that there are many potential benefits which can result from increased interaction with our parents. At the same time, the District has a legitimate interest in avoiding disruption to the educational process, protecting the safety and welfare of the students and staff, and to protect the district’s facilities and equipment from misuse or vandalism. A balance must be achieved between the potential benefits and risks associated with the presence of visitors in our school buildings.

In order that campus administrators will know who is in the building at all times, all visitors (including parents, volunteers and substitutes) will be required to have a visitors identification badge. All visitors will be required to present picture identification issued by Texas or the United States and sign in at the school office. The picture identification will be scanned and a temporary badge will be issued to the visitor. The picture identification will be kept in the school office until the visitor returns to the office and turns in temporary badge. By doing so, administrators will know when a visitor has left the premises.

In the event of an emergency, it is important that the school be able to account for every individual that is on the premises.

I appreciate your cooperation as we begin the new security procedures for visitors.
