50 Directors Who Make a Difference “Louisiana”
Began Teaching in 1982 at DeRidder Elementary (3 years) – continued at DeRidder Junior High (6 years) and
finished my teaching career after 26 years at DeRidder High School. I taught all 35 years in the same town.
During my teaching career – I have been very active in the state music educator association. I have served as state president twice, district director, division chair and am currently heading up the exhibit hall for colleges and vendors at the Louisiana state conference. Being associated with the best educators in my field has helped me to stay current with teaching methods and motivation in the classroom.
I am married to my husband, James and have two children; both boys have graduated from college.
I am an avid animal enthusiast – I volunteer at the local Humane Society every week.
I feel blessed to be an educator. To have the opportunity to work with today’s youth is an opportuity to shape the future of our world. I love to make a difference through teaching music.
