English 2
I graduated from a Louisiana high school in 1963. I married and raised my family before entering college. I’m what one would call a late bloomer. I entered Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming at the tender age of 37. From there I transferred to Angelina College in Lufkin, TX where I obtained my AA degree. From Angelina College, I went to Lamar University in Beaumont and completed my BA and MA in English. I am also certified in history, reading, ESL, and Library Learning Resources.

State Certifications
Many, many over 28 years and too numerous to list.
I started teaching at Newton ISD during the 2017-2018 school year.
I teach English 2.
I started my teaching career in August 1987. I taught Language Arts 6th, 7th, 8th grades for Devers ISD. At a U.I.L. academic competition, I encountered Connie Hughes and Hershel Hall who asked me to consider a high school teaching position at Spurger ISD. I made the move and taught 10th, 11th, and 12th grades for the first two years. I was then given 11th and 12th grades for several years until I took and passed the state Library Resources certification test. I then taught 12th grade in the morning and was librarian in the afternoon. I did this for about two years until I was designated District Librarian. I was instrumental in automating both the high school and elementary libraries. I was full-time District Librarian until my retirement in May 2012.
I am married to Thomas L. Hall, a 1964 graduate of Newton High School. I have two children: Tommy, who started kindergarten in Newton and now lives in Castle Rock, Colorado; and Wendy, who graduated from Newton High School and now lives in Duncan, OK. She is a 4th grade teacher at Pat Henry Elementary in Lawton, OK.
When I am not teaching, I love to read and travel.
