Newton I.S.D. Police Department

The Newton ISD Police Department supports and serves the district by

promoting selfless service, safety and assisting in the prevention of drugs and violence on our campuses.

The department's mission is to provide a safe and secure environment for

students, staff, visitors, and the community at large.

 

 

Newton ISD Police Department is a fully operational, community oriented policing agency that was approved for operation on March 31, 2022 by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. It operates primarily within the geographic area of Newton ISD: south of Burkeville, TX to north of Deweyville TX, between Jasper Co. and the Louisiana state lines and encompasses 392 square miles. It provides law enforcement services to all 3 main campuses as well as the administration building and alternative school campus. In addition it is also responsible for visitor management, emergency management, and  truancy. It is staffed by full time law enforcement offcers who were specifically chosen and specially trained for their roles in our district. The police department primarily works during school hours but does operate year round.

Construction

As Newton ISD continues progress on the new high school please be aware of construction workers and vehicles moving between the buildings; as well as students walking to and from their vehicles in the mornings and afternoons.

I.D. Reminder

Please remember that a valid government ID is required upon entry to ALL Newton ISD campuses.

Speed Zone

Remember that during the mornings and evenings the school zone speed limit on Hwy 190 is 35mph in front of the Middle and High Schools. Elementary School speed zone is 35mph from 7:30am-3:30pm.

    The Newton ISD Police Department acknowledges that our effectiveness depends upon the community’s support, acceptance of our authority, and approval of our actions.  Therefore, we intend to provide quality service to the students, staff, visitors and residents we serve. We believe strongly that working alongside our community is the best way to keep it safe.
