Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is hard to believe we are in the middle of July! The beginning of the school year is just only 30 days away. I know our community is eager to learn more about our plans for the fall semester. Many of you are keeping up with what is happening in our area through the news. With changes happening every few days, we have tried our best to develop an instructional plan. Please remember this plan may change due to the changes with our government, the Texas Education Agency and UIL.
As previously announced, Newton ISO will offer two options of instructional delivery for our students: traditional or face-to-face instruction on campuses, or at home on line learning. The at-home learning option is being
provided for our families who have health and safety concerns with sending their children back to school.
Regardless of which learning option you choose for your child, the expectations for coursework and the
grading system will be the same for both. During One Stop Registration on July 14th and July 15th from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the elementary campus, you will be given paperwork to review at home and return by July 31st making a commitment to what type of instruction you would like your child to do. Once your decision is
made, the student must participate in that type of instruction for a six weeks period. Changes cannot be made from traditional learning or online learning during a grading period.
The 2020 Instructional Plan document gives an overview of each type of learning, requirements and
procedures. It is clear that COVI D-19 has changed the world in so many ways, and the district continues to
appreciate your support and understanding as we work through this difficult time. Together, we will remain
committed to supporting each other and every student on their learning journey.
