I began my career in Newton ISD in August of 2015. This will be my eighth year at Newton Middle School and with Newton ISD. I am a Social Studies Teacher for sixth grade. I also teach Principles of Hospitality to eighth graders. I am excited about this new adventure.
I began my teaching career in 1999 as a substitute teacher at Cleveland ISD. I became a First Grade Teacher and Head Volleyball Coach in 2000 at Heritage Christian Academy for the next six years. I taught two years at Christian Life Center in Humble. I taught Algebra 1 and I was the Varsity Head Volleyball Coach. I was a middle school coach and Inclusion Teacher at Liberty Middle School for 4 years. I have also taught fourth grade Math and Science for one year at Coldspring Elementary and I moved my second year to do Inclusion for the High School where I was also the Head Volleyball Coach at Coldspring ISD. I taught Freshman and Senior English and seventh grade Art at Spurger ISD where I was also the Head Volleyball Coach. I was the Youth Pastor at Liberty Worship Center for five years. I learned so much on how to capture a young persons heart. Many awesome experiences with this group of young people.
I was married to my high school sweetheart Mark, but he passed away in May of 2018. I have two beautiful daughters, Ashley and Britney and three beautiful grandchildren, Sawyer, Kyleigh, and Gavin. Ashley and her husband Billy teach here in Newton ISD and Britney is a Medical Assistant for a doctor in Baytown. I bought a home in Newton that was built in 1914. I have two sweet little Wirehaired Terriers named Little Bit and Gidget. I have a host of friends all over the state but many wonderful friends right here in Newton. I do love this sweet little town.
I enjoy reading and I love to travel. I journal about my life and the things around me. I was at one time an Interior Decorator but wanted to teach. I was a Youth Pastor at a Church in Liberty before I moved here. I love spending time with my family. I own a small business called Frosty’s Fabulous Scents and I own a small coffee business called Java Momma. I love doing this. I collect wine glasses and crosses.
