HS Algebra I
In 1984 my family moved from California to Newton, Texas. What a culture shock! My first year as a Newton Eagle was spent as a 5th grader. Back then, the 5th grade was part of the middle school. I continued my educational career in Newton until the end of my Sophmore year. My family then moved to Houston where I graduated from Klein Forest High School. This move was another culture shock! During my time as a student in Newton, I paticipated in FFA, UIL math and science, and was an officer in the student council. I fondly remember the pep-rally’s, the football games, the homecoming parades, and traveling with the FFA for competitions. We gave Mr. Folk a run for his money, poor guy. I also built some truly amazing friendships. Some of those friends I made back in 1984 are still my nearest and dearest friends today.
I started at Lamar State College in Orange. I went there for three years, earning two different degrees. An associates in Criminal Justice and an Associates in Sociology.
I then went to Lamar University for two years where I earned my degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology.
I have 4 teaching certificates plus numerous others:
ESL certified
Certified Math 7-12 Teacher
Certified English teacher
Certified Generalist (All subjects)
OSHA Certified
Certified Paralegal
and so on...
Way too many to list here! Or to remember!

I previously taught English I at Newton High School. I first began my teaching career at Newton Middle School as an English teacher in 2007.
I spent time as a Literature 2 teacher at Gist State Jail. This was an extremely rewarding position.
I was a Director of an Elementary School (Vista Academy, Humble, TX). I actually opened the school. In order to do so, I hired the staff, I interviewed the students and parents, I also bought all the furniture, made decisions on mascot, school colors and name, schedules, and etc. It was an amazing experience. I spent 5 years teaching at Vista Academy before becoming a director of one of their campuses. I truly enjoyed being a Director, but I wasn’t fit for Houston living.
I have two grown children, both graduated from Newton. My daughter played softball and was a cheerleader. My son played football and baseball for the Newton Eagles. I have five grandchildren, all boys. I am very proud of both my children and my grandchildren. I love them all very much.
I have a sweet fur baby named Ellie.
I love anything to do with the Outdoors!
I am an Ambassador for Texas Women’s Outdors, LLC.
